CM Punk became Scotland’s most hated man at Clash At The Castle as he cost Drew McIntyre once again.

CM Punk ruined Drew McIntyre’s chance at winning the World Heavyweight Championship in Drew’s homeland of Scotland.

McIntyre’s title quest headlined WWE Clash At The Castle from Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, challenging Damian Priest, the very man who robbed him of the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. Although Drew edged towards victory following a second Claymore, the referee had been taken out moments before, resulting in a second referee entering the equation. Counting to two and stopping, the man-in-stripes revealed himself as CM Punk, low blowing ‘The Scottish Warrior’ and allowing Damian Priest to retain the title.

The reaction matched that of WWE’s first Clash At The Castle event - silence. At the Cardiff event, Drew McIntyre challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, coming moments from victory before Solo Sikoa pulled the referee from the ring. This allowed Reigns to Spear McIntyre, marking another successful defence.

For Drew McIntyre, this marked the latest in a line of moments robbed from him by CM Punk that dates back to WrestleMania 40 where a Punk attack allowed Damian Priest to cash in Money in the Bank. The following night on Raw, ‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ again cost Drew, this time in a four-way match to determine the first-in-line to Priest’s championship reign.

Drew McIntyre Warned CM Punk Ahead Of Clash At The Castle

Having been screwed numerous times by CM Punk, Drew McIntyre warned the multi-time World Champion against getting involved in his match with Damian Priest. Speaking to Cultaholic Wrestling’s Tom Campbell, Drew advised Punk that he may ‘get jumped’ should he make the trip to Glasgow:

“I think it would be a mistake [for CM Punk to interfere] for a number of reasons after what happened last time at Clash. I really do not want something like that to happen again to the UK. This is Glasgow. This is Scotland. This is different. I would strongly suggest not getting involved or doing anything to rock the boat during this show as there’s a genuine chance you’ll get jumped. I’m not even joking. And there’s a genuine chance the security guards won’t stop them because they’re Scottish as well. I’m telling you, there’s a good chance you’ll get jumped and security will help jump you if you get involved in my match.”
