Nash Also Makes Bold Claim About Triple H and Punk

Kevin Nash recently discussed CM Punk's WWE return and he claims CM Punk's return promo felt contrived. Nash made some interesting comments about Punk's promo as well as his past during the latest episode of his podcast Kliq This. Nash critiqued Punk's promo from the 27 November edition of RAW, claiming:

“For somebody who’s so pipebomb, it just felt very contrived. Then at the end, you know, oh sh*t. I better slip this in so I have some credibility, ‘I’m not here to make friends. I’m here to make money.’ I’ve heard that before.”

Nash's Bold Claim About Triple H and Punk

One of the most interesting parts of Nash's podcast about Punk (titled Countdown to Punk's WWE Release) concerned Triple H's reaction to CM Punk during "The Straight Edge Superstar's" first run in the WWE:

I know that when I was supposed to wrestle Punk, you know, he just got under Triple H's skin so bad. Paul just came up to me and just said. 'I'm going to beat him. You're not gonna wrestle him. I'm beating him.' I'm like, 'Cool.' That's why me and Punk never wrestled. He's said, 'I gotta beat this fu**er.'

If Nash's story is accurate, it would add some much-desired background on why Triple H decided to wrestle Punk during Punk's hot streak in the WWE. More than a few members of the WWE Universe questioned why the WWE decided to have "The Game" work a short program against Punk in 2011 and beat him. Some fans claim that Triple H's victory over Punk sapped some of the momentum Punk was enjoying around this time. You may recall CM Punk was still riding the momentum from his "Pipe Bomb" promo the previous summer.

Nash also seemed to question Punk's physical status:

“Ten years ago, he walked around with a hydrocollator pad on his lower back. He's been beat up. He worked a very, I'm not gonna say reckless, but just a very indie style for those years in Ring of Honor. He put miles on his body early.”

Kevin Nash's Well-Known Disdain for Punk

While the argument can be made that some wrestlers with podcasts often seem to say something bold or controversial to grow their audience, Kevin Nash's disdain for CM Punk is well-established. Consider there comments Nash made after AEW released Punk earlier this year. Nash used his Kliq This podcast to share his opinion on the idea of Punk returning to the WWE at WrestleMania:

Please do m*********** because I’ll ask Paul (Triple H, WWE boss) to put me in that b****. ‘I’ll be on the horn tomorrow to see if we can make that happen. Sucker punch me skinny fat boy.

Nash also clarified a previous comment he made concerning Punk:

‘I apologise to the Waffle House at this point in my career for actually calling him a short order Waffle House cook. My bad. F*** you Phil.’
