Well, this was unexpected.

Ridge Holland came to the ring on the March 26 episode of WWE NXT and announced that he would be stepping away from in-ring competition.

Holland was then moved to the alumni section of WWE’s website, which in-turn made fans speculate that this was legitimate and wasn’t a storyline.

However, Fightful Select (sub required), has offered some insight into Holland’s announcement, and they have confirmed that Holland’s retirement is a storyline.

It will be interesting to see how the storyline plays out, especially due to the lukewarm response to the angle itself.
